About the webinar

Affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, many universities have been forced to close and move their courses online. Some have even announced the continuation of online courses through 2021.

You can teach almost any subject online. However, some subjects are going to be more productive online than others. For instance, you can teach medical students online about all the illnesses of the lungs. However, there is a part of that teaching that involves the interaction with actual ill people. That is very difficult to provide through online teaching.

In robotics, something similar happens. How can we ensure that students learn and practice their robot knowledge over the Internet? How can we provide students with the same full learning experience as when we teach them with a real robot? And how can we keep track of students’ learning progress and evaluate results…? These are the challenges for a robotics teacher.

In this FREE webinar, we are going to show you how to teach ROS & Robotics online with ZOOM, and we will provide you with two additional solutions.

when

We will hold this webinar twice in different time zone. You can choose the best time that suits your convenience:

WEDNESDAY , DECEMBER 9, 2020

2 PM CET (Central European Time)

or

THURSDAY , DECEMBER 10, 2020

2 PM (EST Eastern Standard Time)

Webinars For

  •  Professors/Teachers of undergrads or graduate students who are preparing ROS & Robotics courses for Spring 2021.

  • Teachers who are searching for a ROS & Robotics online teaching solution during the COVID-19 lockdown.

ATTENDEES Will LEARN

  • 3 methods to teach ROS & Robotics remotely while confined.
  • Attendants will experience first-hand exactly what their students would experience.
  • Attendants will receive a short class on how to make a TurtleBot3 autonomously navigate. We will use a simulation and a real robot for these webinars.
  • Attendants will connect remotely to a TurtleBot3 and execute the program remotely.

Attendants will receive

  • A ROS teaching guide (including a step-by-step method to setup your ROS & Robotics class).
  • A full practical ROS project with which you can teach your students to use a TurtleBot3 for mapping an indoor environment, localizing the robot, and making it navigate autonomously. This project includes the simulation, notebook with full syllabus, and ROS codes.
  • An engaging and fun experience with Ricardo and Alberto, teachers of ROS.

Dr. Ricardo Téllez

ROS Teacher & CEO at The Construct

Dr. Ricardo Tellez has 7 years of experience building software for ROS based robots, including human size humanoids. He is the author of 4 books about learning ROS (the ROS in 5 Days series of books). He teaches ROS at the University of LaSalle in Barcelona for the graduate students for the Masters in Robotics. He also teaches ROS at Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) at the Master Industria 4.0.  Additionally, he is the producer of the ROS Developers Podcast, where he interviews  a ROS expert every week about how to better program robots with ROS.

His goal is to make robots understand their world. And he has a plan.

Alberto Ezquerro

Alberto Ezquerro

ROS Teacher & Head of Education at The Construct

Mr. Ezquerro is of the first group of ROS experts in the world and has many years of experience in robot development and training. In 2014, he served as a robotics researcher at the National Institute of Robotics and Industrial Computing. His research direction is in the field of robot perception and object manipulation. Since 2015, he has been the head of education at The Construct. He has participated in the creation of more than 100 robotics courses.

Additionally, he delivers a free ROS Live Class on Youtube every Tuesday, where attendants can learn and practice a given ROS subject.
